OUR COMMUNITY
Our families come from many cultural, religious, and occupational backgrounds, but each family is here because they are drawn to and support our school’s philosophy. All parents are asked to make their home a place that reflects the values of Waldorf education and offers children a sense of continuity and coherence between school and home. Learn more about how you can support your child’s extraordinary Waldorf experience!
Within the school itself, parental involvement includes volunteering to help with class activities and performances, going on field trips, and assisting with social events. Parents extend this class-based involvement by participating in school-wide festivals, special social and cultural events, work-bees, parent education opportunities, and fundraising. Many parents also serve the school through working on our various governance committees or on our Board of Directors.
The Calgary Waldorf School is autonomous but affiliated with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, Waldorf in Canada and the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges of Alberta. The school is governed by a Board of Directors that includes both parents and faculty, while daily management of the school and decisions about the education program are guided by a Faculty Council and administrative staff.
