Welcome to Calgary Waldorf School

Central to Waldorf education is a deep respect for childhood. Our enriched curriculum is designed to meet the child’s specific developmental needs. Movement and time in nature is built into every student’s daily rhythm. The Waldorf learning experience is hands-on, with unwired and low-tech classrooms. The arts — music, story, drawing, painting, and drama — are interwoven through all subjects.

I wanted to thank you for all of your support over the last few months. You have really made this an easy transition given the circumstances. It is clear how much effort you have put in personally to ensure the children continue to have a Waldorf experience. I have so appreciated learning some of how Waldorf teaches our children. Thank you for keeping us so organized and making it easy for us to follow the schedule and the work needing to be done every week. Who knew you were a Youtuber! I have always appreciated teachers from a far, however. having him tell us continually “Ms. Loree doesn’t do it that way” has been very humbling. I realize how connected he is to you and the structure you have provided. We are so lucky to have a teacher who is so loving and truly loves what she does. We are so blessed that you teach our son every day.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I hope you are now able to spend quality time with your family. Enjoy your summer!

Waldorf 100 – The Film

The film “Learn to Change the World” shows people from around the world who work on the big pedagogical tasks of our time based on Waldorf pedagogy.

The free-hand geometrical constructions done last year are now made with a compass and a ruler in Class 6. Students learn the importance of precision and basic geometrical design, like bisecting a line and an angle, as they create beautiful artistic forms. ...

Class Four is in their first block of Zoology. Students are investigating which animals are ruled by their heads, their trunks, or their limbs. They are focusing on the bison as a “trunk” animal with its multiple stomachs for digestion!

Waldorf® Education addresses the learning needs of the whole child, developing: clarity in thought, balance in feeling and conscience and initiative in action.

The Waldorf approach recognizes that children have distinct, age-related educational and emotional needs that unfold through stages of their development.

To meet these needs, the Calgary Waldorf School’s rich and challenging curriculum carefully balances academic, artistic and practical activities to stimulate intelligence and encourage creativity.

Our nurturing social environment helps children develop exceptional interpersonal skills, self-confidence and self-reliance, fostering their own personal integrity and sense of social and environmental responsibility.

The Calgary Waldorf School is an independent private school founded in 1985. It offers Parent and Tot programs, Preschool and Kindergarten and Grades One through Nine.

Have a look around our website to explore the unique world of Waldorf Education and discover the advantages it can bring for the growth and development of your child.

Waldorf® is a registered service mark of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and is used by agreement of membership in AWSNA.

Calgary Waldorf School acknowledges Treaty 7 territory – the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Pikani and Siksika as well as the Tsuu T’ina First Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We recognize the land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
