The Calgary Waldorf School is committed to a healthy social environment amongst our students. We recognize that peer-to-peer conflicts are a normal part of life and offer opportunities to learn about ourselves and each other. Excessive bullying, teasing or excluding, however, are not healthy and create a climate of fear, blame and disrespect.

At the Calgary Waldorf School, parents and teachers have implemented a process consistent with the teaching philosophy of our school to address peer-to-peer conflicts, The Social Inclusion Approach.

This effective process developed by Kim Payne, M.Ed., facilitates the resolution of conflicts between students. The Social Inclusion Coordinating Group pilots this process and:

  • Assists and nurtures an environment of mutual respect, safety and inclusion within our school community.
  • Assists and integrates the social inclusion processes as developed by Kim Payne into our school's policies and practices.
  • Supports teachers with social inclusion issues.
  • Assists and monitors the social health of our students and makes recommendations.

The Social Inclusion Approach was integrated into our Discipline Policy (please refer to your Parent Handbook for more details) and has been effective since September 2004. If you have any questions, please contact Katalina Bardell at k.bardell@calgarywaldorf.org.
