TEACHING POSITIONS NOW BEING HIRED FOR THE 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR

As of September 8th, 2008, we are searching for:

  • Substitute Teachers

The Calgary Waldorf School reviews its staffing needs annually and generally begins advertising in March/April for the next school year’s positions.  Advertisements are placed in the Saturday Calgary Herald and upcoming available positions are posted on our website (see above).  We also accept resumes for our Substitute Teacher List throughout the school year.

Applicants who are selected for our Substitute Teacher List are invited for an orientation and for observing in a classroom.  Rate of pay is commensurate with the Calgary Board of Education Substitute Teacher Pay.

Candidates who are being considered for Class or Subject Teacher positions will be invited to an interview with our Hiring Committee.  Candidates who are short-listed after that interview will then be asked to teach a demonstration lesson to one of our classes of students while being observed by members of the Hiring Committee.

The Calgary Waldorf School Salary Scale for Teachers includes increments for teaching experience in a Waldorf School and/or in Alberta Certified Teacher positions, for a University Degree in addition to a Bachelor of Education Degree, and for Waldorf Teacher Certification. Teaching salary amounts and increments are similar to the Calgary Board of Education’s Teacher Salary Scale, with an additional potential to earn 5% more than the CBE scale if our CWS teacher has full Waldorf Teacher Certification.

The Calgary Waldorf School belongs to the Alberta Teachers Retirement Fund (ATRF) – Private School Fund. Teachers can transfer their Retirement Fund from their previous schools across Canada when they join the Calgary Waldorf School’s ATRF membership.

A full Benefits package is provided for salaried staff working more than 60% FTE - including short and long-term disability, Alberta Health Care, extended health care, prescription drugs, dental, life insurance, and tuition assistance for teachers with their children enrolled in our school.
